Peter Hay was made a partner of Freehills in 1977. He spent the next 23 years advising a range of clients concentrating on corporate mergers and acquisitions. Peter was the chairman of the Melbourne office of Freehills before being made the CEO of the National partnership. He retired from Freehills in 2005.
Peter is currently the Chairman of Newcrest Limited, the Chairman of the Advisory Board for Lazard Australia, a Non-Executive Director of the ANZ Bank and a member of the Audit Committee and Human Resources Committee for the ANZ Bank. He was a former director of NBN Co Ltd, Myer Pty Ltd and Lazard Pty Ltd.
Brian was Chief Executive of KPMG and a member of the Asia-Pacific and Americas Board (1990-2002). He brings thirty years of leadership, practice management and restructuring experience. He was recently Chief Executive of Minter Ellison, Melbourne. His original auditing background developed into a range of business risk, M&A and financial advice work across public and private companies, government and sporting bodies. Brian holds a number of corporate and not-for-profit directorships including Oxiana, Sigma Pharmaceuticals, HBOS Australia and Care Australia.
Michael Robinson has more than four decades of legal experience. He was Managing Partner of Arthur Robinson & Hedderwicks from 1980-1988 and Senior Partner from 1996. He became joint chairman of Allens Arthur Robinson in 2001 after its merger. Michael is Chairman of TABCORP Holdings and a Director of Clough Ltd. He was previously Chairman of Epworth Hospital and of the Bionic Ear Institute. He was a Director of Gandel Management Ltd and a member of the Merrill Lynch Australasia Advisory Board.
Terry had a twenty year career in the law, practicing with major firms in New York, London and Auckland before moving into the corporate sector in 1990. In a corporate career spanning 15 years he undertook a number of CEO roles with listed companies in the international building products field, as well as staff roles in Corporate Strategy. The CEO roles included responsibility for businesses in Australasia, USA, Asia and South America. Since retiring from full time executive roles in 2005 he has operated his own business advisory service based in Melbourne. At Harvard Law School he trained in the field of personal development with Dr Alan A. Stone.
Trevor Tappenden is the former Managing Partner of Ernst & Young in Victoria. Trevor is a Councillor of RMIT University and a Director of RMIT Vietnam, and holds directorships with Dairy Food Safety Victoria, VITSLanguagelink, CEDA, and is the Chairman of the Audit and Risk Management Committees of these organisations. He is Chairman of Heide Museum of Modern Art, as well as Chairman of an Investment Company and two associated Charitable Foundations.
